Why Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is your new favourite party game

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is a game with multiplayer at its very heart. Of course it is! How could it not be? This is the official remake of a game that had so many of us pouring hours and hours into its split-screen mode back in the late 90s and we’ll no doubt be doing the same once again as Nitro-Fueled released on the 21st June.

So let’s talk about what you can expect from the game’s multiplayer offering. If you’d like to see some of that in action for yourself, make sure to check out the video we’ve put together!

First up, split-screen will be making its return in Nitro-Fueled, with support for up to four players. Whether you’re racing on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One or the Nintendo Switch, this will be the same across each and every platform.

Crash is back in the driver's seat! Order your copy here and get a PlayStation-themed kart sticker pack and an Electron Skins Pack.

You’ll be able to race with your friends across each of the game’s tracks, with any of the characters, skins and karts you’ve unlocked so far in Adventure Mode. On top of that, you might also want to dip into the Battle Modes that have been carried over from Crash Nitro Kart.

Whether that’s Capture the Flag or Crystal Grab, these modes come with a bunch of unique courses designed for a very different kind of gameplay. You’re not just racing here, there’s a whole set of other objectives to consider. Battle Modes, as the name suggests, are a really good excuse to chase your friends around while attacking them with powerups. What else do you need to know?

If your old CTR squad doesn’t live nearby anymore, or you’re looking for a little more competition, Nitro-Fueled also offers online multiplayer. Here you can play with up to seven other players at once and it’s the place to go if you want to test how good you really are.

On top of that, if there’s anyone else on your friends list playing CTR, you’ll be able to compare your best results with them via the game’s online leaderboard. So even when your mates are offline, you can be doing your best to destroy their best lap times on Cortex Castle. They don’t have to know that you stayed up until 4AM doing this, that’s not the point!

You can buy it now here.
