Will Smith lined up for remake of The Wild Bunch
Returning to the wild, wild West?
Warner Bros' forthcoming remake of seminal Western The Wild Bunch looks set to add some hefty star power, with The Wrap reporting that Will Smith is in talks to star and produce.
The studio has been trying to bring the gunslinging classic back to the big screen for some time now, with the late Tony Scott the last director attached to the project.
Sadly, Scott is no longer with us, but that doesn't mean that Warner has given up on the film, with Smith seemingly central to its plans going forward.
The new film will take place in a modern-day setting, and will follow a disgraced D.E.A. agent as he attempts to take down a Mexican drug lord south of the border.
Brian Helgeland had previously written a draft of the script, but Warner is thought to be looking for a new writer to reposition the film as a starring vehicle for Smith. Whether or not he'll sing the theme tune remains to be seen...
