Will Smith reteams with Pursuit Of Happyness director Gabriele Muccino
For Seven Pounds
It’s clearly the day for stars to reunite with directors they’ve enjoyed working with in the past.
Hot on the heels of word that Joaquin Phoenix will work once again with James Gray comes news that Will Smith has found a new project to shoot with The Pursuit Of Happyness’ Gabriele Muccino.
In Seven Pounds, Smith will play a man who inadvertently falls in love while trying to kill himself. We hate it when that happens.
It’s actually not the first time that Muccino and his star have tried to team back up – they were planning to make superhero pic Hancock (several names back when it was called Tonight, He Comes), but the pieces never quite fell together and Muccino dropped out due to that old chestnut of “creative differences”.
Now, with Grant Nieporte’s script in hand, Muccino can (hopefully) start cranking his cameras next February, with the film pencilled in for a late 2008 release. Let’s hope they can make it work this time...
