Will Smith talks Chicago 7
Spielberg will send him a script...
Fresh from conquering the box office with I Am Legend, Will Smith could probably choose to make any film he wants right now. But when Steven Spielberg calls and asks you to make some room in your schedule, you listen.
Smith’s involvement in one of the Great Beard’s many bubbling development projects has been hinted at for a while, but now he’s confirmed that Spielberg has sought him out for a role in Chicago 7, which already boasts a locked in Sacha Baron Cohen. "When Steve is ready he will send it,” he told Brazilian site Omelete . I don’t know specifics, story, anything, but he told me the filming dates, so I can be free to do it. It’s not a 100% sure thing yet, but I’m confident."
Omelete’s US partner Collider has more, including words from Will about an alternative, darker ending to I Am Legend.
