William Shatner to return for Star Trek 3?
A part has apparently been written for him
Star Trek 3 could see the return of William Shatner to the role of James Tiberius Kirk, with the star having reportedly been written into the latest script.
According to Badass Digest , Roberto Orci has been desperate to reunite Shatner with the franchise, and has added a scene in which Shatner and Leonard Nimoy appear together as Kirk and Spock.
If true, it would be a failry momentous moment, marking the first time the pair have appeared together in a canon Star Trek outing since Star Trek IV back in 1991.
It would also be a fitting tribute by which to celebrate the franchise’s fiftieth anniversary, with which the film is scheduled to coincide…
Hopefully Orci can make it happen. With Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto set to return as younger versions of the characters, Star Trek 3 is expected to open in 2016, with an exact date to be confirmed.
