Witherspoon Goes Under The Bridge
Reese to adapt high school murder
Reese Witherspoon’s Type A films is planning to bring to screen an account of the shocking killing of high school student Renna Virk, after securing the rights of the story from author Rebecca Godfrey.
The picture, titled Under The Bridge, will chronicle the l997 bully-fuelled murder that occurred in a small, close-nit British Columbian town, and the investigation which followed.
Godfrey returned to her home town to investigate the case and speak to the eight students who were involved. She also visited the high school that the girls attended, to interview the students and delve deeper into the splintering cliques that contest inside its gates.
It’s not clear whether Witherspoon will star in the project, although Thirteen helmer Catherine Hardwicke is reportedly in talks to direct the picture.
We do know that Witherspoon will be staring in the upcoming Universal horror Our Family Trouble, which is an Exorcist-type horror flick about a mother who has to deal with her daughter’s demonic possession. The movie is set to send heads spinning in 2009.
