Wolverine 2 getting Darren Aronofsky?
Black Swan director could take on the sequel
Superman directing duties have gone to Zack Snyder , but it seems the film world is still keen for other Supes contender Darren Aronofsky to helm a comic book movie – they’re now ushering Wolverine 2 his way.
The Black Swan director, who’s become one of the most well-regarded filmmakers working today thanks to films like Pi , Requiem For A Dream and The Wrestler , has been offered the film by 20th Century Fox.
Just last week, Aronofsky was a name being linked to Superman , which got us all kinds of excited. But with that gig going to Snyder, this could be a very nice consolation prize indeed.
The sequel, scripted by Christopher McQuarrie, would involve Hugh Jackman’s wolvie falling into a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman, who's been promised to another. Because Wolverine likes to get his way, he ends up fighting the woman’s father and brothers.
Rumours of Aronofsky's involvement have circulated for over a month now, but could a deal be almost set? Nothing's official yet, but with Aronofsky having worked with Jackman before on The Fountain , we quite like those odds.
