Want to know why everyone was so happy about that behind-the-scenes Star Wars: The Force Awakens video from San Diego Comic-Con 2015 that showed off all the ways J.J. Abrams and crew are utilizing practical effects? Well, even with a blockbuster budget behind them, not every movie's special effects can be awe-inspiring spectacles that get our hearts pumping and our butts scooting to the edge of the seat.
Case in point, just about all of the movies featured in this supercut video of the worst special effects in film from World Wide Interweb. There are some practical effects to be had, and in fairness, some of the movies featured in the reel are hilariously low budget (Oh, Shark Attack 3. You’re so adorable), but for most of them, the CGI is just plain bad.
The less Disney relies on special effects and CG imagery to create Star Wars: Episode 7, the less likely we are to experience a disaster of Birdemic proportions. Or Star Wars Special Edition and/or prequel trilogy proportions, come to think of it.
