WWE 2K16 roster update: The New Day, Ricky Steamboat, and 6 more make the cut

R-Truth

The man once known as K-Kwik has had an uneventful 2015, with his one major fued against King Barrett petering out after something like 41 identical matches. His likeness, however, is one of WWE 2K16s most accurate, which should ensure he gets a decent quota of match time over the coming months.

Randy Orton

Our recommendation for what to do as soon as you boot up WWE 2K16: jump into Universe Mode and switch the Viper back to being a heel. Ortons best work has always been delivered to fan jeers, and his methodical, even ponderous, moveset is a much better fit for a nefarious bad guy.

Ric Flair

Woo! With daughter Charlotte appearing in a WWE game for the first time, there was no way Yukes could omit this Limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheeling-dealing son of a gun giving you the opportunity to add to his 16 previous World Championship reigns, should you so wish. Come on, one more for the road: Woooo!

Rick Rude

The Ravishing one enjoyed a storied career, from unforgettable feuds with Jake Roberts and the Ultimate Warrior, to a reinvention as DXs original manager and mouthpiece. He sadly passed away in 1999, but features here for the second year in a row: potentially facilitating an unlikely reunion with Shawn Michaels and Triple H.

Ricky Steamboat

One of the great wrestling technicians of the 80s, The Dragon starred in what many consider to be the best match of the entire decade an Intercontinental Championship tilt with Randy Savage at WrestleMania III. A brief 2006 comeback produced similarly fluid encounters with Chris Jericho, before injury forced him to call it a day at least in WWE rings for good.

Rikishi

Stiiiiink-face! Daddy Usos finisher, in which he introduces his ample backside to a fallen foes grill, is as low brow and downright immature as wrestling gets so naturally, were delighted to see him, and said cheek-to-cheek move, return to the series. We give it five matches before youre inflicting it on John Cena.

Rusev

This summer, the Bulgarian behemoth has had his girlfriend stolen and been attacked (by Dolph Ziggler) with his leg still in a cast from a broken ankle remind us how hes supposed to be a villain again? Hopefully your 2K16 storylines involving Lanas real-life other half utilise more logic than WWEs ones.

Ryback

The second coming of Skip Sheffield looked to be a spectacular one when, in 2012, a long unbeaten run propelled Ryback into a WWE Championship match with CM Punk. But the company ditched the idea of giving him the gold, and fans lost interest. Finally regaining traction as the reigning Intercontinental Champion, hell be one of the highest rated brawlers in 2K16.

Santino Marella

The Cobra-brandishing Italian (whos actually from, er, Ontario) officially retired through injury in June of 2014. Yet rumours of a comeback have persisted, and will only be strengthened by him appearing in WWE 2K16 despite not featuring on Raw or Smackdown since the turn of the year.

Savio Vega

Another who makes this years game thanks to the Stone Cold Steve Austin showcase mode. Vega wrestling under a mask as The Caribbean Kid handed The Rattlesnake his first WWE defeat in April 1996, but went on to lose the ensuing feud between the pair. Older grap fans may also remember his first stint in the then-WWF, as heinous ninja Kwang.

Ben Wilson

I'm GamesRadar's sports editor, and obsessed with NFL, WWE, MLB, AEW, and occasionally things that don't have a three-letter acronym – such as Chvrches, Bill Bryson, and Streets Of Rage 4. (All the Streets Of Rage games, actually.) Even after three decades I still have a soft spot for Euro Boss on the Amstrad CPC 464+.
