X-Files Creator Chris Carter Creates A New Sci-Fi Series
…But will any network pick up The After?
The X-Files and Millennium creator Chris Carter has a new sci-fi TV show called The After all written and ready to go, and is looking for a network to snap it up, reports Deadline .
Carter has teamed up new indie production company Georgeville TV to produce and finance the show, which will be shopped around potential buyers at next week’s MIPCOM TV market. Georgeville currently has a few sci-fi projects bubbling away in development Hell: a remake of Blake’s 7 with feature director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) for Syfy; Hunters , a pandemic thriller drama from Babylon 5 creator J Michael Straczynski at ABC; and Sense8 , a supernatural series from the Wachowski Warship and J Michael Straczynski.
Last year Chris Carter created female-driven thriller series called Unique , which didn’t find a network.
The After apparently incorporates elements of science fiction, suspense, and real-world fear and paranoia. “Chris has woven his mythology magic within a very human, grounded story about the moment when we realise all of our worst fears about the world and its future,” said Georgeville CEO Marc Rosen. Yep, sounds like The X-Files . Or maybe Millennium .
