If you bought into the promise of the Xbox One as an all-in-one media device and games console, you might be pretty pleased about the upcoming over-the-air recording feature that will let you turn your Xbox into a DVR in 2016. If you're not a resident of the United States, Canada, or the UK though, you might want to temper that enthusiasm, as the feature will only be available in those three countries at launch.
Microsoft confirmed the regional restrictions to VG247 during Gamescom 2015, stating that they would announce details for other countries "at a later date." That's a shame and takes a bit of the enthusiasm away from the initial announcement, especially when paired with the news that users would need an external hard drive connected to their Xbox One to use the DVR feature at all. Well, at least it'll be free?
