Microsoft has unleashed a new advertising campaign for Halo Wars 2 ahead of its February 21 release date. And it's… well, not bad actually! These live-action TV spots take the dreary and dour story of Halo Wars 2 and make the conflict funny:
Halo Wars 2 is a bit more niche than its FPS cousins due to being a console RTS. So when Microsoft wants to advertise it, the company can't rely on audiences knowing the situation as well as they know, say, Master Chief. So these ads are actually quite clever in that they manage to be funny while at the same time giving us insight into Cutter and Atriox's personalities. And there's none of that "trying to talk like a millennial" pandering.
Good job, marketing team.
