Zachary Quinto joins Oliver Stones Edward Snowden movie
Oliver Stone’s Edward Snowden movie has added a trio of big names to its growing cast, with Zachary Quinto, Melissa Leo and Tom Wilkinson all signing on to join the project.
Stone has already cast Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the aforementioned whistleblower, with Shailene Woodley recently joining the cast as his girlfriend.
According to The Wrap, Quinto will play Glenn Greenwald, the journalist recruited by Snowden to assist with releasing his information to the general public. Leo, meanwhile, will play Laura Poitras, the filmmaker who directed the Oscar-nominated CitizenFour.
Finally, Wilkinson will appear as Ewen MacAskill, the Guardian journalist responsible for fact-checking a lot of Snowden’s material before it was eventually broken.
The film has yet to receive an official release date or title, but will be based on a pair of acclaimed books on the subject, Time Of The Octopus by Snowden’s lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena, and The Snowden Files: The Inside Story Of The World’s Most Wanted Man by journalist Luke Harding.
