Zack Snyder finds Guardians Of Ga'Hoole
And Fox unwraps The Anubis Tapestry
He’s tackled zombies, oiled Spartan warriors and will bring us iconic superheroes next year. So you might be forgiven for raising an eyebrow when Zack Snyder announces that he’ll next work on an animated movie featuring Barn Owls battling evil.
But he’s just signed on to direct Guardians Of Ga’Hoole, which does indeed feature the winged creatures fighting off a threat to their peaceful home in the forest of Tyto. And he’s not the only unexpected creative person involved – the writers of A Mighty Heart and Master And Commander are behind the script, which is adapted from Kathryn Lasky’s books.
Sounds like fans of Harry Potter’s feathered pal Hedwig are going to be over the moon once this thing arrives in 2010. Variety is ruffling feathers for the story .
Meanwhile, Fox Animation has latched on to Bruce Zick’s Mummy-flavoured book The Anubis Tapestry. It’s the story of Chance Henry, a young man who has to find his father’s soul, which has been trapped in the Egyptian underworld by a curse. He ends up facing down a variety of monsters.
There’s no word on a release date, but Variety has unwrapped details .
