Zack Snyder reveals the practical effects behind *that* Aquaman underwater scene
You may have already seen the Justice League footage of Jason Momoa ‘swimming’ underwater and thought how in the hell does it look that good? The answer is simple...kinda: plenty of green screens and and the world’s most uncomfortable-looking harness.
Posted onto social media site Vero (hat tip Screen Rant), Zack Snyder shared a behind-the-scenes shot from the creation of the submerged scene from Justice League. If nothing else, it’s proof that Zack Snyder isn’t all monochrome and mood swings.
This is just too damn good. This scene is going to be breath taking on the big screen pic.twitter.com/SgN02lbV9pMarch 8, 2017
Being hoisted up mid-air might not be the most cosy of situations for Jason Momoa but he seems to be taking in his stride. It was probably either this or dunking him headfirst into a lake.
The harness looks to be pulling back on Momoa (ouch) while still maintaining him in mid-air. Try working that one out.
And as for those flowing watery locks? All CGI, I’m afraid. For shame, Jason, for shame.
Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, and Ray Fisher, Justice League hits theaters November 17, 2017
