Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC demos Master Trials, new Amiibo, and The Champion's Ballad story expansion

Nintendo's E3 video presentation revealed some new details about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's DLC plans. We already knew that the first pack is going to be a series of challenge rooms, a more challenging difficulty mode, and a bunch of new costumes, but now we know that DLC Pack 1 will arrive on June 30, 2017.

We also finally got a glimpse of the second, more story focused DLC pack to come later this year. Not much is known about it, but it was introduced with a single line of dialog:

We then saw the bird-man Kass playing his accordion, as images of Zelda and the four Champions flash on the screen. Is this a prequel, allowing us to experience the world before Calamity Ganon came along and ruined everything? Again, it's hard to say since so little was actually said, but it definitely feels like flashbacks will be a core part of its story. It'll be out this holiday.

There are also a handful of new amiibo arriving, one for each of Breath of the Wild's four Champions: Mipha the Zora princess, Revali the Rito, Urbosa the Gerodo Chief, and Daruk the Goron Warrior. No idea about functionality or release date yet, but they should be out later this year.

Make sure you check out our full E3 2017 schedule to stay tuned for all the details as they arrive, and check out our roundup of all the E3 2017 trailers.

David Roberts lives in Everett, WA with his wife and two kids. He once had to sell his full copy of EarthBound (complete with box and guide) to some dude in Austria for rent money. And no, he doesn't have an amiibo 'problem', thank you very much.
