Zombie celebrates Halloween
Devil’s Rejects helmer signs on to shoot new Michael Myers flick
In the clutch of directors lining up to lens the latest classic horror reworking, one with a touch of promise has slotted himself in place to continue the Halloween franchise.
Thrash metal screamer Rob Zombie has been admirably finding his feet in the film world via movies such as House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects. Now Dimension Films have approached the White Zombie frontman to put his talents to use on the next chapter in Michael Myers’ colourful life.
“Rob Zombie is a gifted musician and performer as well as a talented filmmaker,” Bob Weinstein said. “His vision for this new Halloween is spectacular and I am thrilled to be collaborating with him.”
Our sources tell us that the new movie will hold a few surprises for fans and Zombie is keen to steer clear of creating a carbon copy of Halloween flicks of the past.
“I have been a huge, huge fan of John Carpenter's original film since its release,” Zombie stated. “So when Bob Weinstein approached me about this, I jumped at the chance to join forces with Dimension Films on this amazing project.”
Zombie is in the frame to write, direct and produce the movie as well as supervise the music. Keep those eyes trained at totalfilm.com for any updates.
