Zombieland series being produced by Amazon
Online retailer looking at small-screen adaptation
Zombieland ’s rotting cinematic corpse could shuffle back to life as a television series produced by online retail giant Amazon.
According to a report by Broadcast Now , Amazon is prepping a serial adaptation of Ruben Fleischer's energetic action-comedy-horror hybrid.
With Fleischer recently saying that the likelihood of a movie sequel was “slim” , it’s no big surprise to see the property heading to the small screen.
Given that Fleischer’s film examined the undead carnage from the perspective of only four characters, there’s plenty of scope to survey the desolation on a wider scale within a multi-episode platform.
As the project’s at a very early stage, there’s no clear word on whether any of the film’s key cast will reprise their roles (as regulars or cameos), although a recent report by io9 suggested that returning characters would be flanked by newbies.
Zombieland starred Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin as a disparate bunch of survivors, travelling across the US in the face of a zombie epidemic. A critical and commercial hit, it felt like a franchise waiting to happen. Here's hoping for better luck on the small screen...
