Zone of the Enders and Metal Gear Solid HD collections Vita-bound
Transfarring transfars even further
After Square and Capcom made their big announcements at Sony’s Vita press conference, Hideo Kojima took the stage to talk about Zone of the Enders and Metal Gear Solid. Both series have already been confirmed to be getting HD remakes for the PlayStation 3 and, as of today, it is confirmed that they’ll be released on the Vita as well. They’re both targeting a 2012 release year, though a more specific date wasn’t given. Considering the Vita hasn’t even received a firm release date in the states, we’re willing to bet that they’ll fall into the second half of the year.
Better yet, using Kojima’s “transfarring” technology, content from the games will be available on both systems. You’ll be able to play some Metal Gear Solid 2 on the PlayStation 3, continue your game on the bus with the Vita, and then return home and pick up your saved progress on the console. This was previously touted as a feature in the upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, so it should come as no surprise that it’s going to work on Kojima’s other HD remakes as well.
Kojima also confirmed that he’s working on a game for the Vita and PlayStation 3 (which will, we’re guessing, also let you transfar) using his new game engine, though details on that are even scarcer.
