Zoolander 2 set to shoot in Rome this spring
The wheels are now firmly in motion on long-awaited sequel Zoolander 2, with Italian site Bad Taste reporting that the film will shoot in Rome this coming spring.
The report cites an announcement by the Mayor of Rome, who revealed that the project will film for 12 weeks at the city’s Cinecittà Studios, and on location around the city.
Ben Stiller will once again star as male model extraordinaire, Derek Zoolander, while Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell are also expected to return as Hansel and Mugatu respectively.
Penelope Cruz was also added to the cast late last year, as was Christine Taylor, while Jonah Hill has been linked to a possible role.
Justin Theroux co-wrote the script with Stiller, and had been expected to direct the project, only for his commitments on TV show The Leftovers to throw a spanner in the works. It is now expected that Stiller himself will step behind the camera.
No release date has been confirmed as yet, but with filming set to begin sooner rather than later, a summer 2016 date could be a likely bet…
